2022.01.28 00:13 Top_Introduction6911 [PC][2000ish?] sci-fi rts game, your base is an aircraft carrier that recycles scrap to build units and you fight mutated tanks and turrets.
Genre: RTS, kind of, but you could take direct control of units.
Estimated year of release: 2000ish (based on my memory of the graphics)
Graphics/art style: 3D, Dark blocky vehicles and landscape, the enemies were infected mutated vehicles and turrets. All missions take place on fairly small islands. Birds-eye RTS camera until you took control of a unit, then 3rd/1st person.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Point and click to give order but also taking direct control of your units and piloting them.
Recycling dead units by literally picking them up with an air unit and dropping them off at a ship that printed more units.
You select 'Pilots' when you print a vehicle, but they are AI chips with human personalities saved on, that get refunded when that unit dies so you can reuse them. (I don't remember if you had to go pick them up before you could reuse them)
Your main base is a big ship (a water ship not a space ship) that prints units.
You deliver material to the ship by picking up dead vehicles with a helicopter, and dropping them into the ship. (I think you also could deliver unique units and weapons so that you could then print them).
You controlled only a few units, maybe like 5 max.
I can only remember a tank and a helicopter, (and maybe like a scout buggy or something) that you could build, but I think you could select different weapons to equip after they were unlocked.
The story revolved around destroying the enemy, that was some sort of alien/mutation that had infected vehicles and turrets. Tanks with tentacles, that sort of thing.
I'm not sure but I think that if you wanted AI control of a vehicle, it needed to have a personality chip installed, otherwise you had to control it yourself, and it wouldn't, for example, automatically return fire.
The personality chips that you installed in vehicles had voiced dialogue when you gave them orders.
If I recall correctly, the last mission is to defend the main base ship, as it sails towards some important part of the enemy alien/infection thing, so it can self destruct to destroy the enemy.
I don't know if it'll help, but the helicopter from Deus Ex always reminds me of the helicopter from this game, but that might just be my mind playing tricks on me.
Sorry but that's all I can remember. I'm really not sure of the year, I'm guessing based purely on how blocky I remember the graphics being.

2022.01.28 00:13 Me550h Spinfoil theory on the coming death.
What if no ones dies during the exorcism, but rather Savathun kills Eris during the campaign and brings her back through necromancy, but because she technically still had a soul she instead becomes corrupted and self serving instead of a mindless thrall of savathun?
Just a thought

2022.01.28 00:13 macreadyandcheese Running Games for Autism Spectrum Players
A friend is reaching out to me to run TTPRG (likely D&D 5e) for himself and friends on the spectrum. While I'm finding a lot of, "This is good and helpful for those on the spectrum!" I'm seeking more of, "X and Y are important or helpful for running games for those on the spectrum." I aim to be a very inclusive GM, but recognize that I'm neurotypical and might not realize what would be helpful or difficult at such a table.
And I very well may be overthinking this! I just want to make sure I'm prepared to offer a good time to everyone at the table.
With a potentially wide open story, I'm thinking of doing a shared world creation setting with guiding questions and a few pillars to work from, a la Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master's spiral campaign or what's in Kids on Bikes for town creation. I've had tremendous success at my usual tables, but would this be easier or tougher than a fixed or established setting? (Eberron has always grabbed my attention, too.)
Guidance, resources, and such are all very appreciated!

I got a doctor’s note
from the pediatrician
after telling them
I knew for certain
that my parents were paid actors
so they drew my blood
I start seeing a nutritionist.
I was never pretty enough
to pull off my weight
so I opted out of
doing my best friend’s family’s
5k for cancer
but spent the night before
praying to be terminal
so they wouldn’t look at me like they did
when I said not today,
maybe next year.
I was never skinny enough
to pull off being crazy
I’m much funnier
when I haven’t had breakfast.
I dropped out of high school,
and I’m not paying rent
for my childhood bed
but I’ll drool for
bread crusts at dinner
to be the good family dog again.
I got a month off work
but I’m still not ready
to come back alive,
I want to get out of Seahaven Island.
I have to pay for my sins
to make money
but I can’t even afford
Rantoul Street anymore.
wanted more poems about experiencing issues with psychosis, so i wrote one :) thank u for reading

2022.01.28 00:13 chinese_quality_user [QUESTION] Learning Malmsteen
I am an intermediate level guitarist, self-taught and been playing for 3 years. Skill-wise I am able to play the entirety of Lucid Collective Somnambulation by Archspire, and I want to improve my current soloing skill by learning Malmsteen songs like Far Beyond The Sun. Are there any common pitfalls that might fuck me over in the long run? Anything to note that’ll make certain things easier?

2022.01.28 00:13 robinsuu Favorite ZineMonth 2022 projects
I bet many of you have heard about ZineMonth, the initiative that sparked from the recent Kickstarter controversies and ZineQuest being postponed. In case you haven't go check it out here. There's some real magic happening over at their Discord.
There is a huge amount of awesome new games being made for ZineMonth (or ZIMO in short) so I figured I'd list a few of my favorites. It was incredibly hard to pick just a few since there is such an incredible amount of talent among the ZIMO creators.
What are your favorites? Please let me know!
Physical titles ___
Lucid: Sea of Dreams This is a game about lucid dreaming inspired by Jewish folklore. I've personally been a part of playtests and have to say it really manages to strike that dreamy vibe. The system itself is rules-light and works surprisingly well. The setting is fantastic. This will become a physical zine. Look at that art!

Preview (WIP) core rules: https://gamesgarden.itch.io/lucid-sea-of-dreams
Planar Compass Issue 3 This is hands down my favorite Old School Essentials zine. The first two issues detailed traveling and adventuring on the Astral Sea. In this issue it will be exploring the plane of Law and Time. Incredibly excited about this!

Aberrant Reflections There is not too much info yet about this game, but just listen to this:
A mirror-themed dungeon adventure inspired by Zelda and Metroidvania games.
With art by Jacob Fleming, the person behind In the Shadow of Tower Silveraxe. That's enough for me to consider this one!

Digital titles ___
Lilliputian I love the theme of this, one could say it's my favorite theme of all. An open seas adventure game that focuses on exploring vast oceans, discovering new islands, making allies and enemies, building reptuation, and simply having fun. It's based on Mausritter but also contains conversions to use it with Into the Odd, Electric Bastionland, and Cairn.
The Mall From the Itch page:
The Mall is a wet, gooey, practical effects filled TTRPG adventure set in a 199x mall pulled out of time and space. The mall’s denizens are trapped inside with a creature not bound by any one form. It slithers among them now, preparing to assimilate and imitate its victims until no one is left and it can open a rift between its home dimension…AND EARTH!
This is the first adventure module for Liminal Horror, the Cairn Hack. It looks great!
LONE EONS Just look at the cover art of this game!
From the Itch page:
Your people have lived in your Haven for a thousand years. It protected you. The experience changed you. Now the Haven's doors must open. What will you find up there on the surface? How has the damaged world healed? Do you have what it takes to survive?
LONE EONS, the solo iteration of Lost Eons, is a Science Fantasy Solarpunk journaling game for one player, using dice and a pack of standard playing cards to create problems and opportunities for you to explore.
Sea of Mur Another open sea-themed project that I would like to highlight simply because I love the theme and I know how amazing content Dank Dungeons puts out (just look at AZAG). This is a setting guide for Cairn by u/yochaigal.
From the Itch page:
Swashbuckle across a fantasy archipelago, hunting for treasure and glory!
Itchfunding (opens February 1st): https://dank-dungeons.itch.io/sea-of-mur
